To create the SIGIL title art, I began with white ink and sumi brush, and painted 12? different versions to make sure I gave myself plenty of chances to clarify my vision for it. I ended up going with the very first draft, which happens more often than not!
I took this photo after I had finished all 12 and stood there staring off in reverie for a few minutes until I realized the ink was dripping on my fingers.
This Uranus and Rocket Ship is
from one of my original works, circa 2017,
and I used Canva to remove the background
I began these pieces with a single, large map of the United States on which I did a wash of freshly pulled espresso shots and my own homemade walnut ink. I then cut the large piece into 15 smaller pieces and watercolored the planets, moons and various other characters of our Solar System. Lastly, I created labels from black paper and glued them onto pieces of lace and fixed them to the artwork.
You can see this piece in the background of several of the segments on the SIGIL landing page, which has been darkened so the writing can be clearly perceived.

And as you for sure know at this point, this is an image of Hermes I co-collaborated with Midjourney to imagine from the face of DaVinci’s Vitruvian Man. I am quite pleased with how this bit of digital inspiration flowed forth...
